Low sugar flapjack
Cooking with your children not only increases your emotional bond with them but can be educational too.
As you cook, talk about healthy eating and home-cooked food, and introduce simple mathematics as you weigh and count the ingredients out.
This recipe can be changed to use a variety of different flavours
140g margarine
100g syrup
250g oats
100g plain flour
I apple or 1 pear grated or the juice and zest of 1 orange or 1 lemon
1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
To make approx. 12 pieces of flapjack
Melt the margarine and the sugar in a saucepan.
Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl and add the margarine mix. Press into a flan tin and bake for 15-20 minutes at 150c
