Most babies start teething at around six months old. You may notice that your baby’s gum is sore and red where the tooth is coming through. If you are worried about any behaviour that is out of character for your baby then consult your GP.

1) Teething rings:- These give your baby something to safely chew on and these may provide a distraction. As an alternative try apple or carrot and avoid things with lots of sugar.

2) Teething Gels:- For babies over four months old sugar-free teething gel can provide relief. Remember to make sure that the gel is specifically designed for young children.

3) Cold Drinks:- Cold drinks will help sooth irritable gums and may help if your baby is dribbling excessively. Water is the best option but try to make sure drinks are sugar-free.

4) Wipe Up Dribble:- If your baby dribbles more than usual, frequently wipe to stop the skin developing a rash.

5) Care For Baby Teeth:- As soon as your baby’s teeth start to show, you can start to brush them. Use a baby tooth brush with a tiny blob of fluoride toothpaste.
