Sensory Play with Herbssensory play mint

Mint is so straightforward to grow and great for Sensory Play. You can buy a plant from the garden centre or even the supermarket and plant it in your garden (just watch it doesn’t take over!)

Stimulate your child’s senses with these fun activities by using fresh herbs in sensory play.

Take the fresh mint and scissors, and try ripping and cutting the mint. This is a perfect opportunity to practice fine motor skills and the smell will be overwhelming! Try using sage leaves too – another fast growing herb – and discuss the differences in scent and texture.

As play progresses, keep your child interested by adding in extra items such as a mortar and pestle and water, bowls and spoons, for a fun cooking and tea party.
